It’s a wedding day! You enter the bridal suite, say hello to your beautiful bride and her bridesmaids, and start with detail shots. Next, you move on to shooting the wedding gown, but the question is, where do you hang it? And is there a place to hang it with good light?

You might have the opportunity to photograph the dress outside or in a different part of the venue. You might still run into the problem of where to actually hang the wedding gown. And this is where a command hook can save the day!

*Disclaimer: Command Hooks, may not be the best option at every venue. And they will not work on textured walls or in extremely humid rooms.

I do carry around a heavy duty command hook with me to every wedding, just as an option. They can be used on most surfaces, and the heavy duty hooks can hold a lot of weight (dresses can be very heavy!). And they can be easily removed. I have yet to have one tear off a wall.

At our last wedding, the bride got ready in her apartment, so I was able to use the command hook on a blank part of her living room wall. I searched for beautiful light first and then found the perfect spot to hang the wedding gown (see pictures below).

*And it is always a good idea to bring a extra hanger just in case!
