I am so excited to share this intimate Yorktown wedding! We all need some good news during these difficult times.

Kiana and Jacob’s wedding plans changed and changed again as the Coronavirus started spreading throughout the state of Virginia. They decided to move their wedding date up so that they would be together and legally married before anything got worse. (Luckily, they chose a date before the state stay-at-home order was commissioned.)

It was not what they planned or wanted. They had big plans, a wedding attended by friends and family. And they unfortunately, were only allowed a few guests.

But it was a perfect wedding in a lot of ways.

Kiana was able to get ready at her parent’s house surrounded by two dear friends and her mom. They were all excited for the wedding to be happening!

Kiana looked absolutely stunning in her bridal gown and cathedral veil. And I just loved her classic details of a pearl bracelet and diamond earrings.

After she was ready, her parent’s drove her to the ceremony to meet Jacob. At a lot of weddings, that moment doesn’t happen. What a sweet moment to be cherished.

Jacob was there at Kiana’s parent’s neighborhood gazebo waiting for her to start the ceremony. As strange as this might sound, that gazebo was the perfect location for this intimate wedding, since it sat nearby a neighborhood lake.

Neighborhood lakes are a part of Jacob and Kiana’s love story. Some time ago, Jacob realized that he wanted to marry Kiana when walking around their neighborhood lake. And he proposed to that Kiana, at that very same spot. So it is only fitting that they were married near a neighborhood lake.

There ceremony was intimate, as they shared their vows and expressed their love for each other. Again, due to the suggested guidelines at the time, there couldn’t be more than 10 people gathered, so a few family members and friends sat in park cars and watched the ceremony from afar. And of course, they had to Facetime a few dear family members who could not make it.

After the ceremony we traveled to Christopher Newport University for some beautiful portraits. It wasn’t what they wanted originally, but it truly was a perfect day because they were  married!

This wedding was so joyful and full of love. It was an honor to be able to be there and document this sweet chapter in their lives!

This dress is just beautiful-beaded details, button back, and a tulle skirt.   I just love these classic earrings. Such a sweet moment! Their sweet pup came over to Kiana right as she was putting her wedding shoes on. That moment when you start to button up your dress! Pure joy!Beautiful! She is just stunning! Jacob and Kiana exchanged letters and it was so sweet!It was an intimate wedding ceremony, but it was perfect! It was so sweet to hear their vows, watch everyone’s reactions and to be to capture these sweet moments. Their sweet bridal party! These girls were so sweet and so supportive to make this day perfect for Kiana and Jacob. Due to Coronavirus, only a few guests could attend the wedding (this was before the VA stay-at-home order), so FaceTime and video chats were happening. On the screen is Kiana’s sister and family who lives in a different state but obviously couldn’t travel due to the situation. They are married! After their intimate Yorktown wedding ceremony, we traveled to Christopher Newport University for portraits. Kiana (and myself) is a CNU alumnus. I have always wanted to shoot cherry blossoms, so this wedding was a dream!Hand and Hand forever! CNU has such a beautiful campus and architecture. These beautiful arches just perfectly frame them!Just so romantic!! They are just so adorable!I just love these balcony portraits and the campus in the background! The campus was completely immediately due to the COVID-19 situation. We were able to take a advantage of that and Kiana and Jacob had their first dance as a married couple right in the middle of the campus. Isn’t Kiana just gorgeous!!
