Sarah and Thomas were married in Burke, Virginia this past weekend. And they had a beautiful, vibrant, red and cyan colored wedding! The entire day was filled with joy as their families and community gathered around to celebrate with them!
This wedding was a little different for me, and holds a special place in heart. Sarah, the bride, is my best friend’s younger sister. I have known Sarah for years now and have sort of heard and watched her grown up through the eyes of her sister. Her family has always acted and treated us like family so I was just as excited to hear that Sarah and Thomas were engaged as the rest of their family!
Sarah and Thomas are now married, but their relationship started years and years ago. These two wonderful people met at church and grew up together. And as simple as their story might seem, it is a beautiful story of the Lord’s sovereignty. Their families met years before their children started dating. As their children are all very close in age, and grew up together, Sarah and Thomas’ relationship started to bloom. Two families that had time to love and serve each other now had their children falling in love.
Sarah and Thomas had not only two servant-hearted families supporting them, but also the love of their community. Their community was such an important aspect of their lives, that they planned to have certain people hand Sarah a rose as she walked down the aisle. She slowly built her bouquet as her dad escorted her down the aisle. It was such an sweet picture of how their community has come along beside her family and supported Sarah and Thomas.
What a beautiful dress!
These paper flowers were hand-made by Sarah and her family!
Sarah also designed all the paper products for their wedding! She did an amazing job! Sarah used the stained-glass window them from the church, which was designed by her grandfather.
Sarah, you are so beautiful!
Sarah and Thomas planned unique ways to honor their families throughout their wedding day. The stained-glass motif was designed by one of her grandfathers, and this hat belonged to her other grandfather. Her family told me stories of when she was little she would “steal” this hat and wear it. Her grandfather is no longer with us, so she made sure to wear this hat for a few minutes to honor his memory and legacy.
What a fun bridal party!
So sweet! All three sisters together!
Sarah and Thomas had such a sweet First Look!
The look on his face is priceless!
Love it!
Sarah, you are gorgeous!
They started their wedding day off with a prayer together!
They are just the cutest!
Ceremony time!
Sarah had a hand-made paper floral bouquet and as she went down the aisle special people in her life handed her an additional rose to add to her bouquet. It was so special to watch!
yay! They are married!
Their guest book was a map! Such a cute idea!
And so the adventure begins!
So sweet!
Congrats to the newlyweds!
