There still can be happiness and joy in this season. And I can’t wait to share with this you Ft.Monroe senior session and tell you about this amazing young lady.
Like most of us, 2020 was going to be a New Year filled with hopes and dreams for the future. January came, we set goals, thought of words for the year, and thought this is going to be the year. Then things out of our control happened. Unfortunately this has happened to this gorgeous young lady, twice.
Darby, like most seniors in high school were planning their final semester of high school and waiting on acceptance letters from college. But, for her (and a lot of other seniors) a fire in the middle/high school put a huge dent in her plans. The local school district had to make drastic plans to accommodate the temporary closing of the school. Hard choices were made and the decisions of alternating days at another school, Saturday as school days, busing to other schools, longer school days, etc. Everything you could imagine changed.
And now a global pandemic. Things are changing again. Schools are closed for the rest of the school year where we live. And for a senior in high school that leaves a lot of questions and raw emotions.
It is not even April yet and things beyond her control have completely flipped her life upside down. During this shoot (which granted was just before a lot of the “social distancing” started and schools closing), I didn’t hear a single complaint. We talked about the future. The dreams of nursing schools. The different colleges that she was accepted to, the differences in those schools and their offerings. We talked about band and the activities she did in school and if she wanted to continue them in the future.
We talked more about the hopes and dreams of her future than the trials and major curve balls that were thrown at her. And there is something to be said about that.
There is still hope and a future. We are all disappointed, frustrated, inconvenienced, scared, panicked, and at a lost for words during this global pandemic. But there is hope, and I thank Darby for reminding me of that.
Just stunning! I love this one! After yesterday, this is just one of those pictures you want to stare at. Pure joy! Another favorite! So gorgeous!! I am obsessed with these images near the gate! Ft. Monroe has so many fun options for senior pictures! It looks like she is standing somewhere in Europe! I know this is a difficult time, but we are still scheduling sessions for the summer/Fall.
