Saddest Part of a Wedding Day | Ask Anything

As a wedding photographer I capture so many joyful and tearful moments. From putting on the dress to the last dance, tears of joy and happiness are usually shed. Moms, sisters, even dads cry on a wedding day and I am there to freeze time and create forever memories. Sometimes these moments even have me crying behind the camera or behind the computer when I am editing.
The saddest part of a wedding day isn’t a dad walking his daughter down the aisle to her soon-to-be husband or the father-daughter first look-when dad sees his baby girl all grown-up, for me it’s the very end of night and the drive home.

We just spent all day with an amazing couple in love. We met grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, and the entire family. We were there for private moments of the first look and exchanging letters, to the “I dos”. We celebrated the night away and we watched the new Mr. and Mrs. drive off into the distance. And that is when I often feel like I lost a friend.
We become friends with our couples and honestly they ALL are amazing people. I mean seriously, we know Navy pilots, teachers, and reverends.
After the wedding, our couples move or get stationed somewhere else due to the military, and we no longer get to see them and celebrate. (Though we do totally follow EVEYONE on social media).

The end of the night is the saddest part of my job, when we have to say goodbye to our amazing couple and their families that have welcomed us into a glimpse of their lives.

I am waiting for my couples to plan anniversary sessions or maternity sessions, just so I can hang out with them again! (no pressure everyone!)
