Rain. The one word a bride does not want to hear on her wedding day. You plan and picture a perfect glorious sunny day, but what if it does rain on your wedding day? What do you do? Personally, you have two options freak out and worry about it or “own it” (I would choose to “own it”!). You can also take pictures indoors, even if it’s not ideal. And rain pictures can be really romantic!

Here are a few of my couples who choose to “own it” when the weather wasn’t perfect for their wedding. Courtney and Ben had an outside ceremony, and it did start to rain right before she walked down the aisle. The guests had umbrellas and were ready. I had umbrellas for the bride and groom and bridal party. And as soon as Courtney came outside it stopped raining!

It also started to rain during their portraits, if you look carefully you can see the rain in these pictures.

Melanie and Chris had a bright sunny day for most of their wedding, up until their reception. It stormed (I mean poured!) during most of their reception, which was located in a tent outside. But Melanie and Chris accepted it and even had a romantic kiss in the rain!

A few years, I was second shooting and it poured during the reception. The rain and dark clouds, actually made for some fun bridal portrait images outside on the porch.

If it rains, storms, or snows, you will still have the perfect wedding day because you will be marrying the one you love. (Although, it is a good idea to have a back-up plan just in case!)
