Over the last few years, I have made a conscious decision to choose a word for the new year. This year I did choose a word, but how I discovered it was different than any other year.
Most years, I wait until the last minute to think about how I want the next year to go. And some years I have just randomly chosen a word. This year has been different.
I have been making my way through Lara Casey’s Powersheets. These “sheets” are actually a small goal planner binder that help you discover and break down what matters most to you in your life. Thinking through what matters most to you, will ultimately set-up you for discovering and accomplishing your goals. I haven’t actually finished the binder yet, but this goal setting planner has helped me decide on my word for the year.
As I was thinking about the past year, and into the future I quite writing out similar threads-to be purposeful and to serve. Last year was a whirlwind (with a lot of sleep derivation) and I didn’t honestly chose a word. But this year, I am excited to focus on serving with a purpose.
To Serve God. To Serve Others.
To Serve my family. To Serve through my business.
To Serve with a purpose.
Be purposeful with everything.
My word, “serve” is going to help me focus on trying to do what matters while I am also trying to accomplish my other goals. And the beautiful thing about choosing a word, is that I can change it as the year goes. I have freedom in changing my word and my goals as the seasons change.
Here’s to 2020, a New Year full of hope, promise, and changes!
*Did you choose a word for the year? I would love to hear what it is!
