Life Update | Personal

The blog has been a little bit quiet lately and that is because our son FINALLY arrived and our life has been a little bit of a whirlwind since.

Here is a little life update on our lives and our future!

Once upon a time I was a K4 teacher, well like 3 months ago. At 38 weeks pregnant I stopped teaching K4 at Calvary Classical School and I immediately turned into a stay-at-home mom and small business owner. At the time I had cleared my calendar, except for two things: the birth of our son and babysitting. I started watching our friend’s 15 month-old as soon as I stopped teaching. I went from having students to having two toddlers in my house while being very pregnant. That actually wasn’t too difficult since they could play with each other. The harder part hadn’t happened yet.

I had agreed to watch our friend’s son after having Leland. Now, that would mean I would have three kids under the age of three by myself for about 6 weeks. I know there are moms out there that do that daily (I am praying for you!), but to jump from having a 2 year old that can talk to having a 2 year old, a 15 month-old that knew three words, and a newborn. It was a little crazy! I managed to keep everyone (mostly) happy and our house didn’t completely fall apart!

And of course, for awhile, we were on “baby watch” which felt like forever! Leland’s birth story will be blogged soon, but I went 41 weeks and 2 days with him. He was very, very late and I felt like the world was waiting for him to arrive! Diana Gordon Photography, photo

After Leland’s arrival, Daniel took two weeks off. After that, he had to go back to working 6 days a week and I of course had three kids to take care of….you can see why the blog has been quiet lately. And I honestly never really got a maternity leave from working. I stopped teaching on a Friday, started watching our friend’s child on a Monday. Two weeks later we had Leland and then 4 weeks later I was shooting a wedding. In the last month alone, I have shot a wedding and 5 family sessions (which overlapped with babysitting). Needless to say, it has been a busy two months!

Our lives are back to “normal” and we are looking forward to our summer plans of family vacations and enjoying our little ones! (Though, #LittleLeland really isn’t that little!!). All those sessions I just mentioned will be featured on the blog this month, which I am super excited about!

And that sweet picture of Kylie holding Leland in the hospital at the top …well here is the most recent version (via cell phone).  I feel like Kylie got older and Leland obviously got a LOT bigger! (He is double his birth weight at 8 weeks old!)

Make sure to follow along for more life updates!
